DALLAS - Thousands of people are headed to Fair Park Friday morning for the Dallas Mayor’s Back to School Fair.
Some began lining up for free school supplies, health screenings, immunizations and haircuts as early as 2 a.m. The doors open at 8 a.m.
Most families pre-registered but walk-ups are welcome. Dallas ISD students just need to bring a school ID and recent report card. Students who attend charter, private and home schools can also qualify based on need.
The event typically attracts about 30,000 people. Mayor Mike Rawlings always joins in the fun and dances with students while they wait in line.
