2 children die in separate North Texas pool accidents

DALLAS - Two young North Texas children died over the weekend in separate pool accidents.

An 8-year-old Fort Worth boy died after suffering a head injury at his friend’s swimming pool.

Gage Petit died Saturday at Cook Children’s Hospital. He was pulled from his friend’s pool Friday afternoon in far north Fort Worth. Police did not say how he suffered the head injury.

Also, a 4-year-old girl drowned when her family lost track of her in a murky apartment complex pool.

The child had been swimming Sunday at the Meadow Creek Apartments off Tacoma Drive in Garland. She was not wearing a floatation device.

The water was so dirty it took paramedics some time to find her body at the bottom of the pool.
