Tarrant County reports 0 COVID-related deaths for first time since July

For the first time since late July, Tarrant County is reporting zero COVID-related deaths.

Tarrant County Public Health Director Vinny Taneja says he is happy to see hospitalizations and cases plateauing.

"Today is one of those days that we have zero deaths to report," he said. "So finally we are getting there. So that's great news for us."

But there are concerns about another uptick with so many family gatherings coming up.

The county is encouraging vaccinations, booster shots and mask-wearing, saying these efforts not only work but they work well.

Between Saturday and Monday, Dallas County reported five COVID deaths.
