Crowley ISD students selected to attend Michelle Obama book tour

Some North Texas high school students have been chosen for a chance to see Michelle Obama when she comes to North Texas next month.

The seniors from Crowley ISD took college entrance exams, filled out college applications and completed student loan paperwork.

Now, the former first lady is celebrating their efforts by inviting them to attend her book tour.

The students have seen her, watched her and admired the former first lady from afar. The 19 students from Crowley High School and an additional19 from North Crowley High have been selected to attend Mrs. Obama's upcoming book tour appearance at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Crowley ISD has a partnership with TCU which provides an on-campus counselor to help students with the college application process. The selected students, already well along in the application process, were part of a drawing.

The former first lady even retweeted a picture of the group after they posted about their excitement. She expressed how she's equally excited.

Kadacey Franklin, like others in the group, is halfway through Mrs. Obama's book, I am Becoming.

“She's such a beautiful lady,” Franklin said. “She's so graceful and she's monumental. She's a role model for me."
