6-year-old Plano girl gets Make-A-Wish surprise trip to Disney

A 6-year-old Plano girl was surprised Tuesday morning by the Make-A-Wish team.

“I’m so happy to announce that your wish had been granted and you’re going to Disney World,” Ian McKeen told her.

Reese Lewis has been battling leukemia. Her mom said in 2017 they took her to the ER with a fever and left knowing it was cancer.

Reese was in the hospital for six months and had weekly chemo treatments. Her last chemo treatment will be next month.

Before Tuesday morning’s big reveal, she completed a fun scavenger hunt through the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine. It led her to the ballroom where dozens of supporters were waiting to celebrate.

“We saw everything she’s had to go through and so we kind of understand why you’re doing this for us. But we did not imagine this at all. This is beyond what we could have ever thought. We are just very humbled,” said Morgan Lewis, Reese’s mom. “This is right up her alley because she is all about princesses and dresses and princess gowns.”

The entire family, including Reese’s brother, will spend a week in Orlando visiting the various theme parks.

The Plano-based HVAC company Service Experts partnered with Make-A-Wish to help great Reese’s wish. McKeen is the company's president and chief operating officer.
