Summer storms stalk North Texas

Ahhh, the nature of summer storms...and there will be more through the weekend!

They can produce a lot of rain for some, and none for others. Today may offer some more of them. Showers are drying up this morning, but light winds at the surface and aloft may produce new ones later today and this evening as old storm boundaries are left behind. They are somewhat random BUT the best chances will be from the MPLEX and south. Highs low 90s, Heat Index above 100 (muggy!).

The pattern responsible for the showers sinks south tomorrow, so rain chances may be confined to areas SE only, and temps will heat into the mid 90s.

A return to the "northwest flow" pattern may develop again later this weekend. Saturday looks like mid 90s, with PM showers SE however we'll watch a weak cold front in Oklahoma spawn strong storms that could reach the Red River at night. That same disturbance and front will settle into NTX sunday, with higher coverage (30%).

By the middle of next week, the more typical summer HIGH pressure system builds into the middle of the nation...shutting off rain chances and gradually pushing us closer to the century mark.
