North Texas mom makes $4.5k chandelier wedding cake for daughter

A North Texas bride challenged her mother to create a wedding cake that would blow her away. It ended up being one of the hottest cakes on the internet.

Nikita Jackson of Absolutely Edible Cakes in Rowlett made a seven foot chandelier cake for her daughter Toddreana and now son-in-law Anttwon. Suspended from the ceiling, the chandelier cake was made with hundreds of rhinestones and more than 70 broaches.

“I saw it from outside it was just, it blew me away,” Toddreana Thames said.

Jackson, a long-time cake decorator took-on her daughter's challenge just two weeks before the Oct. 8 wedding as a labor of love.

Shared over 1,500 times on Facebook, Jackson said she had no idea it would be so popular. She just wanted to make something special for her daughter.

“We couldn't just do something that we do for everybody else and hang it from the ceiling and reach out to someone who could build me a custom stand,” Jackson said.

Besides having a custom built stand, Jackson said they had to rent a truck to deliver the cake. She says after buying the chandelier, broches and rhinestones, it was about $4,500 for her to make the cake.
