Dak Prescott passes up fancy vacations for time with grandma during bye week

No fancy vacations for Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott during the bye week.

The rookie QB told the StarTelegram he plans to spend time with his grandma in Louisiana. By doing so, he’s passing up the chance to appear on a late night talk show and take advantage of an endorsement opportunity that would have sent him on an international trip.

“It’s football and family,” Prescott told the paper. “That’s what I focus on. If I have time to get away and spend time with my family that I’m not going to get to do for awhile that I haven’t done for a while. I’m going to take advantage of it. It’s more important to me to spend time with my family than go with those deals.”

Prescott said he doesn’t want to go to typical NFL player hotspots like Las Vegas or Miami during the season.

“I can do that in the off-season. I’ve got one weekend during this long strenuous period. I’m going to go get off my feet,” Prescott said, adding that he’d like to get some fishing in while he’s in Louisiana.

Prescott and the Cowboys are 5-1 and the talk of the NFL. Dallas’ next game is Sun. Oct. 30 at AT&T Stadium vs division rival Philadelphia.
