Cowboys DL David Irving will miss the first four games of the 2018 regular season after being suspended for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

It’s the second straight season Irving will miss games. Irving was suspended the first four games last season for violating the NFL's ban on performance enhancers and missed the last four with a concussion.

Irving will miss games against the Panthers, Giants, Seahawks and Lions. His first game back will be against the Texans on Oct. 7.

Irving will be allowed to participate in all offseason and preseason practices and games.

Irving signed a $2.9 million, one-year deal in April with the Cowboys.
