FOX4 Poll: Ted Cruz leads Donald Trump by double-digits in Texas Republican primary

Ted Cruz has a double-digit lead over Donald Trump in Texas according to a new poll commissioned by FOX4.

The Texas Senator has an 11 point lead over the New York businessman – 36 percent to 25 percent. Florida Senator Marco Rubio was third at 19 percent. John Kasich had 9 percent and Ben Carson had 8 percent. Only 3 percent of voters said they were undecided.

The telephone survey of likely Republican presidential primary voters in Texas was conducted on Sunday by Opinion Savvy, just two days before voters go to the polls on Super Tuesday. The margin of error was 3.7 percent.

Candidates need to hit the 20 percent threshold to be eligible for statewide delegates. Texas is the biggest Super Tuesday prize for Republicans with 155 delegates at stake.

Cruz leads with every age group in Texas except for those ages 18-29.

Only 11 percent of voters said they might change their mind between now and Election Day.

44 percent of those polled considered themselves very conservative, with 32 percent calling themselves somewhat conservative. 18 percent of those polled called themselves moderate.
