Woman dies after being thrown from SUV during crash in Irving

A North Texas woman lost her life after she lost control of her SUV in Irving. That SUV went airborne, eventually landing on top of a pickup. Her male passenger is in the hospital.

Police say 40-year-old Christina Reed was driving her SUV on eastbound on 114 just east of O'Connor Road.

Reed drove onto a shoulder, overcorrected to the right and hit a pickup. That driver was not injured but the impact knocked the SUV back to the left and across the center ditch, launching the vehicle at least four feet into the air.

The SUV landed on top of a second pickup traveling westbound on 114. That driver sustained a serious head and neck injury. The force of the crash catapulted Reed from her SUV.

Irving police are investigating if weather could have been a factor in the crash.

Police say they don't believe the SUV was speeding.
