As of Friday afternoon, many roads near Grapevine Lake are still submerged under water.
Only one boat ramp at Silver Lake Marina has opened while all other boat ramps remain closed.
Those lucky few boaters with a slip at a marina can take advantage of the open water, but where there's water, there's mosquitoes.
"We've had a lot of sunshine and dry weather, and warm waters are breeding grounds for mosquitoes," said Vinny Taneja, Tarrant County Health Director.
Tarrant County entomologist Nina Dacko identified 37 different species of mosquitoes in the area, four of which carry West Nile Virus.
But experts say these are just floodwater mosquitoes that are likely not infected with West Nile.
Tarrant County health officials have advised that visitors to Grapevine Lake bring with them insect repellent and antibacterial wipes to wipe down bacteria-contaminated surfaces.
"It'll be a good summer, we've just gotta get past this," said Rob Ellis, a Grapevine Lake boat owner.
