Finnish festival features taxis in which customers pay by singing

You won’t need cash to ride in this Finnish taxi. Heck, you won’t even need your credit card. That’s because all you’ll need to ride this taxi is your voice (and a plane ticket to Europe).

Fortum Singalong Shuttle will be the world’s first taxi in which customers pay by singing. The taxis, which will be operated by clean-energy company Fortum, will make their debuts at a Finnish music festival in early July.

All of the vehicles in the program will be electric cars. It’s part of a campaign by the Nordic company to raise awareness for clean energy by encouraging people to drive electric cars.

“With Singalong Shuttle we want to show people in a joyful way how comfortable and easy it is to drive an electric car,” Fortum’s Brand Manager Jussi Mälkiä said in a press release.

And the vocals, no matter how off key, will play a key part in the campaign.

“The silent electric cars make it possible to enjoy singing without background noise and emissions,” Mälkiä said in the release.

These vehicles will not make their way to the United States, so if you want to show off your best vocals in a green-friendly vehicle, you’ll have to go to Europe.
