Just about everyone is taking selfies these days - even the Pope - but a Polk County man just made a big mistake by snapping one with a stolen cell phone.

Now that detectives have his picture, it should be a lot easier to find him.

"I love it," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd. "I couldn't get over it. I can't believe we got a picture of him."

About two weeks ago, after a round of golf at Solivita, Thomas Fortuna said he left his cell phone in his cart and went into the lounge. When he came out, his phone was gone.

Investigators say the thief apparently snapped several pictures of himself. What he didn't realize was, the phone was set up to automatically store new photos in Fortuna's iCloud.

When Fortuna's wife bought a new phone, the suspect's selfies popped up.

Even though Sheriff Judd doesn't know the guy, he says he recognizes him.

"He looks like a future convict in the Polk County Jail to me," he told FOX 13 News.
