Deputies arrest child porn suspect, find arsenal of guns

CORSICANA, Texas - A 79-year-old Corsicana man was arrested Thursday after sheriff’s deputies found child pornography and a cache of illegal weapons in his home.

The Navarro County Sheriff’s Office said deputies showed up at Harvey Strain’s home in the 8800 block of West Highway 31 Thursday to serve an arrest warrant for the possession of child pornography.

Strain allegedly had a loaded pistol on him, so detectives searched his home. They found a large number of automatic weapons in plain view and called the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for help.

The sheriff’s office said Strain had about 45 guns, 100,000 rounds of ammunition and boxes of gun parts in his home. Many of the guns turned out to be illegal automatic firearms.

Some of the weapons were hidden inside the walls, so deputies and ATF agents returned to the home Friday to continue searching.

Strain is being held in the Navarro County Justice Center.
