Police: White House aide shot at off-duty cop after sex

- A White House aide has been suspended from her job with the Obama administration after police said she shot at an off-duty U.S. Capitol Police officer using his service weapon.

Authorities arrested Barvetta Singletary, 37, at her home on Burnished Wood Court in Upper Marlboro on Friday morning.

Prince George’s County police said Singletary invited an off-duty U.S. Capitol Police officer to her house for sex.

After the encounter, Singletary apparently asked the man about another woman he was dating and went out to his car looking for his phones. He tried to stop her, but she grabbed two phones and his service weapon from a bag inside the car and ran back to the house, authorities said.

Once back inside the home, Singletary is accused of threatening the officer with his gun using the words, “You taught me how to use this, don’t think I won’t use it.”

When the man refused to give up the passcodes to his phones, she allegedly fired a shot but did not hit the victim. Fearing for his life, the man ran out of the house and called police.

Police arrested Singletary for domestic violence. She was released on a $75,000 bond after spending the weekend in jail.

Singletary is a White House aide, special assistant to the president, a liaison to the House of Representatives and a Howard University graduate.

A White House spokesman said Singletary has been placed on unpaid leave and her access to the White House complex has been suspended until they learn more about the incident.
