A man goes on trial for the drunken driving deaths of a woman and her two sons earlier this year.

Jury selection for Ricardo Martinez begins Monday in Johnson County.

He’s accused of killing Maranda Abshire and her sons, 5-year-old Adrian and 2-year-old Cruz, in March.

Her half-sister, Lindsey, was also injured in the head-on crash that happened on Highway 67 in Alvarado. She is expected to testify during the trial.

Police said Martinez’s blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit for driving three hours after the accident.

He’s facing murder charges because of his two prior DWI convictions.
