The toddler found unconscious in a Fort Worth pool over the weekend has died.

According to the medical examiner, 21-month-old Adrian Romero-Valdez died at Cook Children’s Hospital Monday morning.

On Saturday afternoon he wandered away from his grandmother while she was caring for him at the Wedgewood Apartments on Walton Avenue.

A neighbor told FOX 4 he saw the boy at the pool surrounded by a group of young people. A few minutes later he was alone in the water.

Romero-Valdez was unconscious when witnesses pulled him out of the water. A Fort Worth police officer had tried to save his life by performing CPR until paramedics arrived.
