Thief steals eight guns from Mansfield store

A Mansfield gun store owner says a crook got away with more than $6,000 worth of weapons.

Whether the suspect just got lucky or had a plan, he ended up stealing eight high-dollar handguns, and Danny Ray, the store owner, hope someone recognizes the thief from the surveillance video.

During the late afternoon on Tuesday, the camera outside of Ray's Pharmacy in Mansfield on East Broad Street picked up the suspect first.

The suspect went upstairs and straight into the closed gun store. It’s usually locked, but wasn’t this time.

The suspect busted open the glass case where the guns were displayed. That's where detectives focused their effort to find fingerprints.

According to the Mansfield police report, those eight guns were worth more than $6,500.

Three of them were Kimbers, a high quality, high-priced handgun.

“The serial numbers are traceable,” said Ray. “Right now, I don't know if the guy had a market for ‘em or personal use, but I assume that there's no good gonna come out of this.”

The suspect left one behind: a Colt 45. But he also left behind ammunition and cash in the register.

A backpack that had been for sale in the store is what he used to carry the guns away.
