Thief returns stolen racing bike thanks to FOX 4 photojournalist

- A University of North Texas student was sure she’d have to push back her next bike race after her expensive ride was stolen, but she had it returned thanks to an observant FOX 4 photographer.

Surveillance cameras at Denton’s West Oak Coffee where 21-year-old Taylor Rector works give a look at what happened. The video shows a tall, skinny man with long, stringy hair grab the bike Thursday night and leave.

After filming some interviews at the coffee shop Friday afternoon, FOX 4 photojournalist Raul Cantu noticed a man a block away matching the description of the thief in the video. He stopped to ask the him for comment on our stolen bike story. Within moments, the thief confessed to the crime and returned the bike.

Not only was the bike undamaged, Rector’s $85 climbing shoes that were attached to the bike were also returned.
