Thanksgiving day shopping picks up later in day

Thanksgiving Day deals and door busters had some shoppers lining up outside retailers ahead of Black Friday, but not as many as you might think.

The crowds were slow to form Thursday but by nightfall parking lots at the Grand Prairie outlet mall were filled with determined shoppers looking to snag a deal.

At the BestBuy on North Central Expressway in Dallas, hundreds of people were in a line that wrapped around the store’s corner.

We talked to the first guy in line who said he arrived at 4 a.m. thinking there would be a long line.

Instead he found it was just him in line for several hours.

“You could've been here at 9:30 and kind of actually got in a good spot in line,” said Brian Powell.

At Toys R Us right next door, the line didn’t start forming until around 4 p.m.

Parents we spoke to inside were okay with that since they seemed to have gotten most, if not everything, they were looking for.
