The Texas House passed a new budget early Thursday morning.
The $251 billion two-year spending plan was approved unanimously just after midnight.
“And with that, the Texas House unanimously passes our state budget. Thank you to all members for the productive conversations today, and congratulations,” Speaker Dennis Bonnen said on Twitter.
The plan includes $9 billion in increased funding for public education. The House also okayed $9 billion in the current budget mostly for Hurricane Harvey relief on the Gulf Coast.
The Texas Senate’s finance committee takes up its own budget plan Thursday.
