Video shows Furr High School teacher cursing at student

Critics say there's fresh and disturbing evidence that the Houston Independent School District Furr High campus has become a junction of dysfunction. Classroom video obtained by FOX 26 News depicts a teacher hurling profanity at her students.

"Shut the f----k up! Not just shut up, shut the f---k up shut up!," screams the educator.

Community activist Gerry Monroe claims it is bad adult behavior that has become commonplace since the controversial 2017 departure of longtime Furr principal Bertie Simmons, who remains under a cloud of grade changing allegations.

"What I see is utter disrespect from an educator," said Monroe. "What I see is an administration that has allowed this type of culture to exist in a classroom."

And there's more.

In a second video from a student's phone, a female Furr faculty member is seen refusing to leave a boys’ restroom as a young man stands at a urinal.

HISD said the teacher pursued a male teen into the toilet area, but concedes there was no immanent  safety risk that would justify the intrusion. The district reports that a new procedure has been implemented as a result.

"Our children deserve competent, calm educators and if this is an environment you can't handle, this is not the way you handle somebody else's kids," added Monroe. "You wouldn't want anybody to handle your kids like that."

Houston ISD released the following statement after FOX 26 contacted the district:

The allegations were reported in early May. After receiving the reports, the district investigated both incidents and took appropriate action to ensure Furr High School remains a safe learning environment. The district is unable to comment further regarding these personnel matters and looks forward to ending the school year on a positive note.
