Teen helps neighbors escape apartment fire

A teenager helped to wake up his neighbors late Thursday because of a fire in their far northeast Dallas apartment complex.

It started around 11 p.m. on the second floor balcony at the Creek Bend Condominiums on Abrams Road near Walnut Street.

Gary Antillon said he came out and saw the flames so instantly started knocking on doors.

“I was banging pretty hard on doors. They came out instantly. They were like, ‘Why you knocking on my door?’ I said, ‘Sir, there’s a fire.’ A couple of women and children came out. I was relieved that they came out pretty quickly. I prayed and I thank God that they did. They came out quickly,” the 18-year-old told FOX 4.

No one was hurt, but the fire damaged eight apartments and displaced about 20 people.
