A woman was shot and killed Thursday night in the parking lot of her apartment complex while trying to get away from two men who were in an argument.
Dallas police say the men pulled guns on each other, and the victim, 19-year-old Kierra Robinson, was shot and killed after she got caught in the crossfire.
The shooting happened around 7 p.m. Thursday. Three sisters were sitting outside their apartment, which is in the 3000 block of East Ledbetter Drive, when the men began arguing several yards away.
The women took off running when the men pulled out guns, but Robinson didn't make it.
Her family saw her collapse as she tried to get away. At first, they thought she was having an asthma attack, but then they realized that she had been shot.
Robinson died later at Baylor Hospital. Her family says one of the men involved in the shooting lives in the same apartment complex.
Robinson's mother, Regina Harper, is asking the people responsible to turn themselves in.
"It was wrong it was done, but just be a man and come forth and let it be," she said. "Please do that for me and my family so that we can have peace."
Robinson was a senior at John Leslie Patton Jr. Academic Center in Dallas.
Dallas ISD officials said that they will make grief counselors available to her classmates and teachers.
