Dallas police have made an arrest and released new details in connection to a recent murder at a Northwest Dallas home.
Police arrested 17-year-old Marcos Andres Jimenez on Monday morning. He has been charged with capital murder.
The body of the victim was found Sunday night, but police believe the death occurred on Dec. 6 and that the suspect had been bragging about the death to friends, even showing them items he stole.
Dallas police got a 911 call just before 9:30 Sunday night.
A man was found in a home in the 9900 block of Hurley Way, apparently stabbed to death.
“He told the witnesses that he had killed someone and if they told anyone, he would kill them,” said Deputy Chief Rob Sherwin with the Dallas Police Department. “The witnesses did not believe Mr. Jimenez and did not take his statement seriously.”
The friends apparently did not believe Jimenez had killed anyone until they showed them a bag full of items with jewelry and prescription medicine apparently taken from the victim.
That's when they checked out the house and called police.
Police aren't sure how Jimenez and the victim are connected. They are not releasing the victim's name.
Jimenez is being held on a $1 million bond.
