Suspicious man approaches student in Cedar Hill

Parents and police in the Dallas suburb of Cedar Hill are on alert after a girl reported being approached by a strange man.

The girl said she was walking home from Permenter Middle School last Thursday when the man offered to give her a ride. She got scared and ran home.

“At the beginning he was kind of nice and then he started yelling at me. After he asked me if I was homeless, he started yelling at me,” the girl said.

Police said the man’s description is similar to the description of the man who approached another student in Arlington last week. He was a white male in his 50s with a bald head and goatee.

However, they’re still trying to determine if the two incidents are related. They said the suspect in this case was driving a blue, four-door car and the suspect in the Arlington case was in an extended cab pickup truck.

“Parents, talk to your children and let them know what’s happening and to be aware of their surroundings when they’re walking home. If at all possible, we want them to take a friend with them,” said Lt. Colin Chernault with the Cedar Hill Police Department.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call police.
