Students, staff still feeling sick at Lakewood Elementary

Dallas ISD will now test the water at a school where the air quality has been a concern.

Students and teachers are apparently still getting sick at Lakewood Elementary School. The school has even had to bring in more nurses to care for sick students.

The district said most have returned to class after seeing the nurse, but one teacher did faint in class Monday afternoon.

Last year the school had a problem with a buildup of carbon monoxide from an old heating system. But it was fixed and carbon monoxide detectors were installed.

Recent air quality tests also all came back normal.

Now the district will test the water out of an abundance of caution.

It will also fix an air conditioner problem that led to slightly warmer temperatures in the building. Those repairs are expected to be complete by the end of the week.
