Strange notice on door raises homeowner's concerns
DALLAS - An official-looking notice left on the front door of some North Texas homes is raising questions.
It appears to be a legal notice from Dallas County Investigations asking folks to call immediately or face possible legal action.
A FOX 4 viewer said his home surveillance camera captured an image of the man who left the note.
He said after calling the phone number and not being able to reach anyone though voice prompts, he called the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and Dallas Police Department. Both said it wasn’t from them.
On a community message board, other residents have reported being harassed after making contact with the number on the notice. Some say they don’t know why it was left.
As it turns out, the notice is from a repo company. In the case of the FOX 4 viewer, the company admits it had a bad address and the notice was left in error.
The company said its notification system and even the phone prompts are designed to get people to leave a message in the hope that their curiosity will help verify who they are and where they can be found.
