Storm system brings flood warnings, heavy rain to Texas

DALLAS (AP) -- Flood advisories have been issued, upward of 4 inches of rain have fallen in some coastal regions and soggy crowds are turning out for the South by Southwest festival as a storm system moves across Texas.

Flash flood warnings were issued yesterday by the National Weather Service for Galveston, Harris and other counties as the system moved through east and north Texas. Rains also were extending from far West Texas into Central Texas.

There was a temporary flash flood watch for Austin, where South by Southwest is being held, before the threat subsided. Thousands of festival-goers Friday and Saturday have sought shelter from occasionally heavy rains.

The rain is expected to continue into Sunday in the Austin area and then clear out later in the day.
