No one found inside South Dallas home after 6-hour standoff

SWAT officers and Dallas police surrounded a home after they believed a suspect barricaded himself in South Dallas Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the standoff in the 2700 block of Lenway Street began around 3 p.m. Officers were trying to serve a warrant when someone inside the home began firing shots at officers.

Gang Unit officers are also at the scene. Nearby roads were shut down during the standoff.

Officers were able to get into the home around 9:40 p.m. and found no one inside. But police did recover a weapon.

No arrests were made, and no injuries were reported.
