SMU seismologists to study Irving earthquakes

SMU seismologists will install earthquake monitors in Irving after a series of quakes have rattled the area.

Thursday night's 2.4-magnitude quake was the 16th in that area since later October. Many of the quakes have happened near the former Texas Stadium site.

The SMU scientists will start installing equipment on Monday.

About a year ago, they placed monitors in the Azle area during a flurry of quakes.

They're trying to figure out if the shaking is related to fracking.
