Severe weather knocks out power, brings heavy rain

Storms that blew through on Friday evening knocked out power for many people in Tarrant County.

More than 40,000 customers in Tarrant County were without power, according to Oncor, as of 10 p.m. Friday. More than 3,500 people were without power in Dallas County and a little more than 1,000 in Johnson County.

Johnson County officials said late Friday that about 40 to 60 homes were damaged from the storms and did not have power. The homes were said to be located in Joshua and Godley.

There were also reports of trees knocked over across the area due to the high winds that accompanied the storms.

Air traffic at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field was halted for a period of time when the storms moved through the area.

Tarrant County, Ellis County and Johnson County were under Tornado Warnings at times on Friday evening. But there were no reported tornadoes that touched down.
