Man's Body Recovered from Joe Pool Lake

Grand Prairie - UPDATE 2:10 p.m.: Grand Prairie Police have recovered the body of 57-year-old Walter Harrison, III of Arlington, from Joe Pool Lake. Harrison jumped into the water during a family boating trip Sunday afternoon and never came back up.

The Grand Prairie Fire Department and Texas Game Wardens resumed searching for the man after sunrise. Investigators say the man was not wearing a life jacket.

Crews searched for several hours Sunday, until it got dark.

According to Texas Parks and Wildlife, 80 people have died in Texas waters so far this year. 85-percent of victims who drowned were not wearing a life jacket.

Grand Prairie Police say this is the second drowning at Joe Pool Lake this year.
