Saginaw police release dash-cam video of officer-involved shooting

Saginaw police say they're releasing dash-cam video of a deadly officer-involved shooting Saturday night to be transparent.

25-year-old Michael Brown attacked several people in a neighborhood, including police before an officer shot and killed him.

On Saturday night, dash cam footage from a responding Saginaw officer shows the moments after police say Brown beat a woman, attacked an elderly couple then tried breaking into homes. When three officers showed up, police say Brown assaulted them.A taser was used twice but that didn't stop Brown. Two bystanders saw what was happening and ran to help the officers. That's when Brown turned on them.

Police say one of the officers got his gun out and shot Brown who later died at John Peter Smith hospital in Fort Worth.

The department says releasing this video shows--- all measures were taken to prevent deadly force until they had no choice.

Sgt Damon Ing said, "We serve our community we want to make sure we're transparent and this investigation."

Saginaw police say officers shot at Brown a total of four times, striking him once.

As far as the people he attacked, four civilians and two officers, the first responding officer and an older female bystander suffered the most serious injuries. The officer has a significant head Injury and won't be at work for a while. The woman just got out of the ICU and has a long recovery ahead of her.

The second officer is also recovering from his injuries and is also not back to work yet.

Police and court records show brown has a long criminal history including drug charges and assaulting a public servant. Investigators hope toxicology tests will give them an idea of what caused him to act erratically.
