Russ Martin Show Listeners Foundation donates $30k to Euless officer's fiance

The listeners of a popular local radio program and its host have donated $30,000 to the fiancé of a slain Euless police officer.

The Russ Martin Listeners Foundation cut the check the day after Officer David Hofer was killed in a shootout in a city park. The check is made out to Hofer’s fiancé Marta Danylyk.

A copy of the letter sent from Martin to Euless Police Chief Michael Brown was posted on the radio program’s Facebook page, along with an image of the check.

"On behalf of every listener of our program, please accept this check for Officer Hofer's fiancee. They understand that words provide some comfort, but actions more profoundly state, "We do not forget."

The foundation regularly supports first responders who die while serving the public.

A public memorial service for Hofer is scheduled for Saturday afternoon in Bedford.
