Rowlett residents fed up with trashed home

People in a neighborhood in Rowlett want a damaged home torn down.

The home was damaged in the tornado after Christmas. It went into foreclosure a few weeks later.

Now the home is owned by a bank. And while others have started to rebuild, it sits in ruins.

“It’s just unsightly. It’s not an insurance deal and you’ve got brand new houses coming up right next door to it,” said Jimmy Screws, who lives nearby.

The city said the mortgage company was given 10 days to clear the debris. If that does not happen, Rowlett can clean it up and put a lien on the property.
