Rockwall 9-year-old buying sleeping bags to give to the homeless

A 9-year-old Rockwall girl is keeping the spirit of Christmas alive by providing a warm night's sleep for the homeless.

Aisley Bradford had about $60 in Christmas money, and decided to use it to buy sleeping bags for the homeless.

Several other people contributed as well by matching her $60.

They picked up the sleeping bags at Academy for $9 each, then traveled to downtown Dallas to hand them out.

“When I walked outside, I felt how cold it was, and I thought of those people that didn't have home or shelter,” Bradford said.

"She was excited, she did most of the work with her brother and sisters, and I think they're all giving kids. And so it just came natural," Christina Bradford, Aisley's mother, said.

Adding to the contributions, the family said they told an Academy employee what they were doing, and he gave them 20 percent off.

Bradford is still working to raise money to buy even more sleeping bags with her new organization "Cared and Covered."
