Robbery suspect recaptured after brief escape

Dallas police arrested a man wanted for several robberies in Oak Cliff.

Police were in the area of Ledbetter Drive near Sunnyvale Street when they found out the suspect had broken into an apartment.

Officers were able to track him down and take him into custody. But he was able to get away briefly.

“They had him handcuffed outside the apartment. They went to take a picture of him and he took off running and he escaped. We’ve just now found him again in another apartment and we’ve charged him with escape also,” said Sgt. Mark McClenny with the Dallas Police Department.

The suspect was on the run for about half an hour before he was caught again.

Police did bring in a K-9 unit to help find him.
