Rival schools come together following vandalism

Azle High School’s football field was vandalized the night before a rivalry game, but hours later, both Azle Hornets and Boswell High School Pioneers showed what sportsmanship should look like at Friday night’s game.

Sometime after 11 p.m. on Thursday, Azle ISD says someone spray painted Buzzie the Hornet blue and tagged the turf with vulgar language along the sidelines.

Crews worked throughout Friday morning to remove the mess, and police are investigating.

The consensus amongst both Azle and Boswell students on Friday was, don't be bitter; be better.

Members of both student councils collected donations to raise money for charity.

“We were angry at first, but you have to realize one person's mistake doesn't reflect the entire school,” said Azle senior Jordan Redmond.

"At first, of course everyone was down, but throughout the day, we realized it's not permanent,” said Boswell student Zach Perry.

Azle students say all the money collected will go to a charity.
