Richardson residents upset over operations center plans

Hundreds of Richardson residents are up in arms over plans to build an operations center near their homes.

The $26 million project is planned for the intersection of Abrams and Tall Oaks roads near Richland College. Neighbors say it will create problems with traffic, pollution and lower their property values.

They gave Richardson ISD a petition with 400 signatures.

“I feel like all of us are surprised about how it all went down. We did not realize that something was going to be built there,” one resident told FOX 4.

Neighbors said they found out about the development by accident. District leaders said plans are on its website and appeared in a newsletter.

The district also said studies on traffic and environmental issues found it would have no major impact.

Construction is scheduled to begin in May.
