Repair work starts on collapsed Turtle Creek condo garage

Work is underway to repair the Turtle Creek parking garage that collapsed in October.

An 800-ton crane has been setup on the property and is a welcome sight for those who live at the Renaissance at Turtle Creek condominiums.

Six weeks ago the buildings' garage structure partially collapsed, trapping and smashing cars inside but somehow not injuring any person.

Condominium board member Dedie Leahy's car is among the vehicles that were damaged or destroyed by the seven story pancake collapse. Roughly 250 vehicles remain stuck inside.

"I'm telling you it's been a day-to-day process,” Leahy said.

Many residents are still being provided rental cars with street parking and a nearby garage used while the condo garage remains off limits

The repair process is expected to take five to six months.
