Rain causes problems for early morning commuters

Some drivers got into trouble thanks to intense rain early Wednesday morning.

FOX 4 Traffic Reporter Chip Waggoner said it was slow going in many areas because of accidents and the slick roads. For updates, follow Chip on Facebook and Twitter.

Bennie Cummings was on his way to work around 5 a.m. when he drove into high water at intersection Harry Hines Boulevard and Mockingbird Lane.

“I been coming here for the last two years and this is the first time. The construction they done has caused this flooding,” he said.

Firefighters helped to push his car to higher ground and he called for a tow truck.

The stormy weather also knocked out power for some people. Oncor said more than 20,000 of its customers were without electricity around 7 a.m.

Crews are working to restore power as soon as possible.
