Pro-police group, community members meet

Officer-involved shootings were part of a conversation Thursday night at SMU.

The pro-police group Operation Blue Shield met with community members about building relationships with police.

The meeting, organized by Operation Blue Shield, was part of an effort to counter anti-police sentiment and to talk about how to improve interactions.

Operation Blue Shield launched earlier this year, raising money for body cameras and other equipment.

The group also works on town hall meetings in an effort to get police and citizens working together more.

Around 80 people heard a Dallas police lieutenant and a Dallas pastor about improving collaboration.

People in the audience were asked to write questions on a card and those questions were read to the people on the panel.
