Fort Worth police are questioning a man who was found with a 6-year-old girl, hours after she disappeared from her home, Saturday morning.
A local search operation was underway for eight hours before a Brendaly Martinez was found. Given how long the search took, police say they were facing a 5% chance of finding the little girl alive.
Brendaly’s parents reported her missing around 4 A.M. Saturday, from her home on the 3500 block of Avenue K. They told police the last time they saw her was when they tucked her into bed. When they woke up, she was gone and the front door was open.
Police searched block-by-block, door-to-door handing out flyers to neighbors, and searching homes and backyards. Search dogs and a helicopter unit were also called in to help.
The girl was found when a woman heard screaming from some woods in a nearby park. She called 911 and officers found the girl in a creek with a man hiding nearby. That man is being considered a person of interest at this point, but as police continue to investigate, they're just glad they found Martinez alive.
Police say Martinez doesn't have any visible injuries but she was taken to a hospital to be checked out as a precaution.
