Police: Plano man ran from crash that killed 10-year-old girl
A man is charged with leaving the scene of a crash that killed a young girl in Plano.
Officers arrested 31-year-old Jason Jude Benoit on Wednesday.
Around 1 a.m. on New Year’s morning, police said he ran away from a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Preston and Hedgcoxe roads. A 10-year-old girl died and four other people were hurt.
Benoit is now charged with manslaughter, failing to stop and render aid, four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and four counts of accident involving injury.
He is being held at the Collin County detention center on a $100,000 bond.
