Man denies confessing to Fort Worth woman's murder

Police have arrested the boyfriend of a woman found murdered inside her home in Southwest Fort Worth.

49-year-old Nikki Blahitka’s body was discovered in her bedroom last Friday. Police arrested 29-year-old Joshua Henry.

Police say Henry confessed to the murder. But during a jailhouse interview, Henry said he didn't commit murder, but instead loved the victim. He says he has no idea how she died or who killed her.

“I love the woman, I love my family, and this is wrong,” he said from the Mansfield jail.

Henry admitted he was with Blahitka Thursday evening but says he did not kill her.

"I was with Nikki that day, not the evening. I didn't know anything happened. Someone came to me the next day, and told me about it,” he said. “I dropped to my knees. I threw up. I got sick. It was devastating."

Blahitka's son went home on Friday and found her dead from what police described as head trauma. The housekeeper had been working in another room inside the upscale, south Fort Worth home on Middlewood Drive.

Crime scene investigators were back out at the property on Tuesday and even searched a nearby creek for evidence.

Blahitka ran a construction company with her husband. Henry says the couple had recently separated and says he met her while doing some work for them. Their relationship, he says, was romantic.

"Talked about everything from family to life to this to that,” Henry said. “We ended up becoming what some people might consider ‘lovers’ at one point."

Fort Worth police arrested Henry after investigators say he incriminated himself.

"He came in, voluntarily gave an interview,” explained Lt. Mark Povero. “During that interview, he actually confessed to being a part of the homicide."

Henry claims he made no confession.

"Just because I was with her? Because they say that I was the last one with her that they know of?” he said.

FOX 4 attempted to speak with neighbors, but they declined.

Henry is being held in the Fort Worth city jail. His bond was set at $250,000.
