Police investigating after Irving church ransacked

Irving police are looking for the thief or thieves who broke into a church in Irving, stealing thousands of dollars in equipment.

Sometime on Dec. 8, after Tuesday evening Bible study at Meadowbrook Baptist Church, the thief or thieves pried open a door, pulled three TVs off the wall and stole a laptop, a keyboard, microphones and other audio equipment.

They also ransacked the church office, swiping $4 from a secretary's desk, a jar of change saved for the youth program and even a book of stamps.

“Stealing from anyone is not good, but stealing from a church is especially just really, really bad,” said church member Christina Guevara.

The church has since reinforced the door. It’s also looking into adding surveillance cameras as part of its response to the crime.

“We're praying for them as a congregation and praying that God will change their hearts,” said Pastor Kevin Weathers. “It's just stuff, you know. That's all it is.”

The church is working on tracking down the serial numbers of the stolen equipment.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Irving police.
