Man arrested after taking ride on top of Dallas fire engine

A Dallas man was arrested early Monday after he hopped a ride on a Dallas fire engine.

A fire engine from Station 37 in the 6700 block of Greenville Ave. was backing into the bay about 1 a.m. Monday when firefighters noticed feet hanging off the top of the engine.

The man on top of the fire engine was reportedly extremely drunk and was taken into custody by Dallas police for public intoxication.

Fire officials believe the man snuck onto the engine when they responded to a call about an injured person at a nearby apartment complex off Park Lane. It’s believed the man rode on the back of the engine for about a mile back to the station before he was found.

The suspect’s name wasn’t immediately available.
