Police chase man in VW bug through 3 counties

Police arrested a robbery suspect who led officers on a high speed chase through Dallas, Tarrant and Denton counties.

It started with an armed robbery at a Garland convenience store Thursday evening. The clerk was hit by a gun.

An officer saw what was happening and tried to stop the man’s VW Bug. He sped off and reached speeds of about 100 miles per hour at times.

The chase ended in Roanoke when the driver lost control and crashed into a fence. He went into some woods and tried to get away on foot.

He was quickly caught and taken into custody.

Officers found a gun in the suspect’s vehicle.
